A mere inch and a half from head to toe, daring the odds that he will cross the road in one piece, amidst a steady traffic of pedestrians, runners and bicycles.

Inconspicuous he is most certainly not, although by his slimy self he is all but invisible against the black, wet tarmac, lest you bring your nose almost down to his level, the spiral shell on his back is a flashing beacon of colour, a bright pebble inching its way forward, seemingly all by itself. It ought to come with a warning label: “May attract the attention of photographers!”
